Crunching Numbers to the top

Being good with numbers is generally not a prerequisite for
the lingerie business. However, in Michael Thomson’s case,
it saved him from being a numbers cruncher.
In the early days of his career at Marks & Spencer, Thomson
found his niche in the lingerie department because “there are
82 sizes of bras,” he tells Revealed. “It plays to my mathematical
mind.”
And it’s a good thing. As the the CEO and Founder of Pour Moi,
he spouts statistics all day long. Consider:
• The brand’s So昀椀a bra accounts for 15% of its sales. There’s one
sold every four minutes;
• The brand sells 500 units of Santa Monica swimsuits weekly;
• It takes 4-to-5 years to get a single product right.
“When I started, I really wanted to create a brand for everyone,”
he says. But, “I always tell my sta昀昀, it doesn’t happen overnight.”

swimwear in various sizes, from A to M cups and up to a size
44 band.
In addition to the So昀椀a bra assortment, there are T-shirt
bras, boost bras and a collaboration with UK actress and
in昀氀uencer India Reynolds. Looking for a younger consumer, this
collaboration o昀昀ers thongs, longline bras, bustiers and more in
eyelash lace, velvet and other fabrics.
Pour Moi shines in the swimwear category. Standouts include
Free Spirit bikinis, o昀昀ered in cup sizes, control suits from the
popular Palm Springs assortment (with straps) and the Santa
Monica assortment (without straps).
In the US, the brand is sold at Bare Necessities and Nordstrom
as well as smaller stores. But for the future, Thomson has high
expectations for the American market.
“Our primary focus is expanding in the US through our
collections,” he says. He believes Pour Moi has the formula to
make it big.
