Black Lace: Elegant and Classic
Few fabrics communicate messages that are equal parts
scintillating and classic like black lace. In ready-to-wear
or lingerie, this delicate choice exudes a vibe that can be
overtly sexy or chicly elegant. The latter is true of Laura
Dern’s layered Gucci look in black lace and pleated silk tulle,
by creative director Sabato de Sarno. The same goes for the
Tony Ward Couture gown worn by Camillo Cabello at the
VMAs. Carpenter reached out to Patou, a Paris couture house
founded in 1914, and asked creative director Guillaume
Henry to create a look for her tour; the result was a black
lace jumpsuit with matching lace gloves.
Anora has become one of the season's hot 昀椀lms, instantly
making actress Mikey Madison a style star. At December’s
Gotham Awards, she arrived wearing a midnight-blue satin
bra embellished with black lace and satin bows at the
shoulders by Schiaparelli and its creative director, Daniel
Roseberry. When Charlie XCX isn’t wearing lingerie looks
onstage, she favors black lace in everyday dressing, such
as the head-to-toe ensemble in black lace she wore while
attending Wimbledon earlier this summer.
